Oral contraceptives

It can also relieve symptoms by taking an oral contraceptive that prevents ovulation, reduces prostaglandin production and reduces menstrual flow. This method is generally effective in reducing not only the duration and abundance of menstruation, but also the pains that accompany them. Some people also choose to stop having periods by taking birth control pills continuously, thus solving the problem of pain indirectly, or by switching to Depo-Provera ® (a contraceptive injection administered by causing amenorrhea). It is also possible to take a contraceptive containing progestin only, continuously. In general, periods are much less abundant and stop times during treatment, which resolves the problem of pain. Menstruation resumed at the end of treatment.
