Protection of pregnant women, birth or breastfeeding
Directive 92/85/EEC of 19 October 1992 concerning the implementation of measures to encourage improvements in safety and health at work of pregnant or are breastfeeding (tenth individual Directive within the meaning of Article 16, paragraph 1 of Directive 89/391/EEC)
This directive establishes guidelines to enable assessment of risks related to chemical, physical or biological, to certain industrial processes, certain postures and movements, their physical and mental stress. It provides for provisional measures to protect pregnant women, birth or breastfeeding against these risks and banned completely from exposure to certain chemical, physical or biological. Special provisions regulate night work, maternity leave, prenatal exams, fees associated with the employment contract, and protection against discriminatory dismissal. The directive calls on Member States to allow women injured by the non-compliance measures to enforce their rights.
