Good Type of Dental Crowns

Now that you've been told by your dentist that you need a dental crown, it's time to sit down and decide on the good type of dental crown for your dental needs. This can be a difficult decision because there are many types of dental crowns.

The good type of dental crowns should be selected based on various factors. Some of the factors you should consider are cost of the crown, durability and aesthetics of the crown. To make your decision, you need to be familiar with the advantages and disadvantages of different types of crowns. Once you've weighed these, you can decide on the good type of dental crowns for your dental needs.

There are many different types of crowns such as metal crowns, metal-ceramic crowns and ceramic crowns. The metal crowns are made from metals or alloys and are extremely strong. However, their drawback is the metallic color. That's why these rings are preferred for molars or teeth that are not visible.

Ceramic crowns are used primarily for front teeth because they can be easily matched to the color of other teeth. However, these crowns are not very strong, and can easily chip and break. Metal-ceramic crowns, also be familiar with as GFP, have a system made of porcelain, while the inner element of the porcelain is baked on metal, giving them strength. They are expensive compared to all other crowns.

You can sit with your dentist and decide the good type of dental crowns for you. Remember that the Crown should not make you happy with its appearance, it should also be able to answer all your dental needs.

  1. I envy women and the variety of dentures and light weight options they have. According to my dentist, men's jaws are heavier so there is the need of big dentures.

  5. It is also worth mentioning that when a tooth is crowned does not mean the underlying tooth is protected from decay or gum disease. You need to continue good oral hygiene practices.

  6. Dental crown costs vary in an such an obnoxious fashion. Some dentists charge a rather exorbitant fee saying they only put German crowns so it's always best to get a second or third opinion especially from dentist lexington who can work on your budget.
