Diseases transmitted by insects (except malaria)

     Dengue widely in all the countries of the region, especially during the monsoon. Chikungunya rampant in some cases in many parts of India and Sri Lanka. Respect of preventive measures against mosquito bites, especially in the late afternoon.

     Japanese encephalitis is present in all countries of the region, especially in the rural areas during the rainy season. If staying for long periods of time in these areas, your doctor may suggest a vaccination.
There is a risk of leishmaniasis in most countries in the region (except in Sri Lanka and the Maldives), and more rarely, and lymphatic filariasis in India, the Maldives and Sri Lanka (southwest). Epidemic encephalitis Chandipura raging in India, most of them children.
