Diseases transmitted through food or water


      Diseases that are transmitted through food and water frequently during the rainy season.

      Diarrhea and intestinal parasites are prevalent. Follow the rules of hygiene and food safety. Except in luxury hotels, it is advisable not to drink tap water, but can be used for brushing teeth.

      The risk of hepatitis A and typhoid fever are important. Consider getting vaccinated.

      Hepatitis E is it in India, but also in the Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka.

      Maldives, beware of ciguatera in some fish.

      Avoid swimming in lakes, ponds and slow-moving waters.

      Cases of cutaneous larva migrans are regularly reported to the beaches. Avoid walking barefoot are located directly on the sand.
