Charlie Winger began hiking and climbing in the mid-seventies when he moved to Colorado.  Over the past 25+ years, he has developed strong mountaineering skills.  Charlie has climbed and hiked extensively, including the 200 highest peaks in Colorado, the 100 highest peaks in the lower 48 states, and the 50 State highpoints of the United States.

Charlie has also climbed technical peaks in many parts of the world, including Alaska, Chile, Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, Nepal, India, Switzerland, Iceland, Russia, Canada, and Mexico.  He has climbed 5 of the 7 continental summits.

Charlie's favorite outdoor activity is ice climbing -- ascending frozen waterfalls using ice tools and crampons.  "A sport for lunatics!"

Diane Winger didn't begin hiking until the late 1980s, although she has lived in Colorado all her life.  She also became interested in technical rock climbing, and has enjoyed climbing at local areas, such as Eldorado Canyon and South Platte, as well as numerous visits to her favorite out-of-state climbing area, Joshua Tree National Park in California.  Most of her hiking has been in Colorado and Utah, although she has been to the highest point in 49 of the 50 United States (and has seen the #1 highpoint:  Mt. McKinley in Alaska).

Diane's favorite outdoor activity is trekking.  She and Charlie have enjoyed 4-day hikes along the Milford and Keppler Tracks in New Zealand, and along the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu in Peru.

The Wingers moved from the Denver area several years ago, and now live on the Western Slope of Colorado.
